LUXURY HOME ON LOCH LOMOND WITH 5 HOLIDAY LETS

Description

Lomond Bank is an elegant period home built of red sandstone under a pitched roof, which was designed to take full advantage of the stunning views over Loch Lomond and beyond. The property has been carefully upgraded over the years but has retained much of its traditional charm including generously proportioned reception rooms with high ceilings, open fireplaces and excellent storage. The present owners have upgraded the property to an exacting standard with the recent addition of five holiday homes: four one bedroom studio apartments and one fantastic three bedroom first floor holiday home.

The property is entered via a portico with pillar to a reception hallway which has a tiled floor, cornicing, a picture rail, ceiling rose and corbels. The principal sitting room has similar ornate plasterwork along with a substantial painted fireplace, fitted bookcase, polished wooden floor and beautiful views over Loch Lomond. The family room boasts a useful fitted cupboard, polished wooden floor, fireplace and window overlooking the rear garden. The dining room is open plan with the kitchen which has granite worktops, excellent storage at wall mounted and counter levels and a Belfast style double sink. The dining area has a wood burning stove set into a simple fireplace. The conservatory has a characterful exposed stone wall and wonderful views and doors out to the gardens. A doorway from the main reception hallway leads to back lobby which also houses a cloakroom, with a back door leading outside, and there is access to a shower room and the utility room.
The family bathroom is located on the mid landing. The upper floor comprises four spacious double bedrooms. The principal bedroom has an en suite bathroom.

Our clients have recently added five immaculately presented letting properties set next to the main house. There are four studio apartments, ideal for individuals or couples: these cosy and well appointed apartments offer comfortable living with modern amenities and private outside decks. There is one three bedroom apartment which is perfect for families or those requiring more space. This is located on the first floor and offers a bright and airy open plan living/dining/ kitchen, three bedrooms plus a bathroom.

Grounds
The entrance to Lomond Bank is marked with wooden gates leading to a tarmac driveway with parking for a number of cars. The rear gardens are predominantly lawned with well stocked borders which are seasonally awash with colour. To the front of the house is a paved sun terrace, facing south.

Location

Lomond Bank has a magnificent setting on Loch Lomond with panoramic views over the loch and beyond.

Lomond Bank is located near the southeast bank of Loch Lomond, within Scotland’s first National Park: Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park which encompasses an area of around 720 square miles.

Some of Britain’s most spectacular scenery is around the Loch Lomond area. The loch is actually crossed by the Highland boundary fault and the physical characteristics of lowland and highland Scotland can be seen within a few miles of each other. The property is within the Stirlingshire village of Balmaha. At the foot of the Conic Hill, the pretty village of Balmaha is a popular tourist destination providing a welcome stop for walkers travelling the West Highland Way.

Five miles from Balmaha is Drymen, which provides a selection of local shops and services including a primary school and a hotel. Local secondary schooling is at the highly regarded Balfron High, while Glasgow offers a number of well known private schools including Kelvinside Academy, Glasgow High School and Glasgow Academy.
Balmaha is set in open countryside but is easily accessible. Glasgow City Centre is within 24 miles and is normally around an hour’s drive. Stirling can be reached via the A811 and is within 28 miles.

Opportunities for outdoor recreation abound, with all the attractions of Loch Lomond and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park on the doorstep. The loch is well known for its excellent water sports facilities, including sailing and water-skiing. The internationally renowned Loch Lomond Golf Club, on the opposite side of the loch, enjoys Championship status and is host to many international events. Other golf courses in the area include Buchanan Castle.
